NEUMAN KIAMCO
ICU Nurse, MacNeal Hospital, Chicago, Illinois
Neuman Kiamco was a beloved presence at MacNeal Hospital, where the distinctive tap of his shoes could be heard as he hustled up and down the hallways. He was so skilled and meticulous that some colleagues called him “Dr. Neuman” or used the term “Neumanized” when referring to his care of patients. In March, during the pandemic, Neuman did not hesitate to transfer from the GI lab to help in the short-staffed ICU. Three months later, he was admitted as a patient after testing positive for the coronavirus. He fought the virus another two months but never recovered.
