EXHIBITIONS
The National Mall
Washington, D.C.
The Hero Art Project WAS on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. from November 10-28, 2022. We exhibited our collection of 100+ portraits of healthcare heroes who lost their lives while fighting COVID-19 and saving the lives of thousands of people in our mobile digital art gallery.
Next to the gallery, our hospitality tent invited visitors to contribute to the exhibit as a living memorial. Guests added a cloud with the name of a healthcare worker lost during the pandemic to the back wall of the gallery and participated in art therapy activities inspired by the Filipino tradition that butterflies represent the spirits of the deceased.
We are grateful to students from George Washington University's art therapy program, who were onsite most days offering a therapeutic art activity utilizing this butterfly theme.
This exhibit was made possible by the Brave of Heart Fund, founded by the foundations of New York Life and Cigna, and administered by E4E Relief. The Brave of Heart Fund was established in early 2020 to honor the memories of our healthcare workers whose lives were lost in the fight against COVID-19.
