DR. SYDNEY MEHL

Cardiologist, NYU Langone

Dr. Sydney Mehl, an NYU Langone cardiologist, was smart, curious, and most of all, compassionate. Even if it was just two minutes, he’d always take time to chat with people he came across, “and never considered himself above anybody else because he was a physician,” his wife said. Dr. Mehl grew up in Brooklyn and attended Brooklyn College. He was admitted to NYU School of Medicine and stayed at NYU for the rest of his medical career. He always took days out of his busy schedule to spend quality time with his daughter. Relationships with his patients were also paramount to Dr. Mehl— his strong devotion to patient care amidst the COVID-19 crisis cost him his life.

ARTIST: CHRIS KUNZE Painting has been my passion for over 25 years. The life and work of other artists has been a constant motivator. Visiting museums and galleries has fueled and inspired my continuing education and appreciation of art. With the use of warm and cool colors I try create unique compositions, drawing the viewer into the painting. I hope my paintings incite pleasure, curiosity and inspiration. I am a graduate of RISD; have had a career in Advertising; and am a teacher. I will always be a painter.
