DR. ANJALI VERMA

Neonatologist/ Pediatrician, Central State Medical Center, Freehold, NJ

She came to the United States from her native India, near New Delhi, in 1981 and settled in New Jersey. For 14 years, Dr. Verma was the staff neonatologist at Central State Medical Center in Freehold, and even after she started her own pediatric office, she remained on staff for several other regional hospitals. When she put her days of seeing patients behind her, she opened a medical spa. Throughout her career, Dr. Verma treated countless infants and children and supported an equal number of mothers. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Pankaj, and her two daughters, Adisha and Avanti.

ARTIST: PETA HARVEY - I am a Brisbane-based scientist with a not-so-secret life as an artist. In recent years, my creative energy has focused on developing my drawing skills and exploring the freshness and spontaneity of ink and watercolour painting. I also enjoy the challenge of life-drawing and portraits, exploring the many different colours and tones of the skin with either watercolour or coloured pencil. These pieces are less about reproducing a perfect likeness but more about capturing emotion or a mood in the expression of the subject.
