DR. HERBERT PAUL HENDERSON

Family Medicine, Medical Examiner for Carroll County, MD

Herb was soft spoken, kind and preferred to be in the background not the spotlight. He was incredibly intelligent. He loved learning both to help his patients and just the fun of knowing something new. He once taught himself to read Latin so he could read a book in its original Latin text. He had a way of putting people at ease, especially his patients. He had a patient come to him for anxiety because they were failing calculus in college. Instead of a pill, he tutored them in calculus. They passed the class. He loved his kids, he encouraged them to dream big. He enjoyed collecting old coins, imaging what history occurred in their presence, who else might have held it. He was a loving, supportive husband never complaining as I dragged him to join me on early morning 5Ks, or Orioles games.  His loss has left a whole in our community.
